
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj has released the notification for Special Teacher Eligibility Test (Special TET) 2026 under Advertisement No. 03/2026.
The examination is intended for eligible teachers working at the Primary Level (Classes 1–5) and Upper Primary Level (Classes 6–8), along with eligible Special Educators (CWSN), as specified in the notification.

UP Special TET 2026 Eligibility
The examination is applicable to teachers working in eligible government, local-body, aided and recognized schools, as well as eligible Special Educators (CWSN), according to the level at which they are working.
Primary Level – Classes 1 to 5
Teachers working at the primary level are eligible for the Primary Level Special TET.
Upper Primary Level – Classes 6 to 8
Teachers working at the upper-primary/junior-high-school level are eligible for the Upper Primary Level Special TET.
Special Educators / CWSN
For Special Educators, the notification specifies relevant qualifications including graduation, recognized special education qualification and a valid RCI registration/CRR number, as applicable.
Age Limit
For Special Educators working on contract/deputation, the maximum age prescribed for the examination date 03 November 2026 is 60 years.
Application Process
Candidates must complete One Time Registration (OTR) before submitting the online application. Applications will be accepted only through the official UPESSC online system.

Important Application Instructions

Qualifying Marks
For General category candidates, the minimum qualifying requirement is 60% (90 marks out of 150).
For the specified reserved categories, including SC/ST/OBC, EWS and other categories mentioned in the notification, the minimum qualifying requirement is 55% (82 marks out of 150).

For Classes 1–5, the examination consists of 150 MCQs for 150 marks:

The subject-specific section varies according to the teacher’s subject, such as Mathematics & Science or Social Studies/Social Science.
Important Exam Instructions
Candidates should carefully follow the examination instructions. In particular:
- Candidates must appear at the examination centre allotted to them.
- Black ball-point pen is required for marking the OMR sheet.
- Eraser, blade, whitener and similar materials are prohibited for making corrections on the OMR sheet.
- Incorrectly filled OMR information may result in the answer sheet not being evaluated.
- Eligible Divyang candidates can avail themselves of the prescribed scribe facility and additional time according to the notification.
